Robotic pool cleaners in New Zealand
A robotic cleaner is a self-contained unit with its own motor and filter that plugs into a power point, unlike a suction cleaner that runs off your pool's pump and filter. It costs more to buy and less to run, and it takes the load off your filtration system.
What to look for
Floor-only models are cheaper. Floor-and-wall models handle the waterline scum band, which is where most of the visible dirt is.
A robot filters into its own basket, so leaves do not go through your pump. Check how easy the basket is to get out and rinse, because you will do it every run.
Corded robots swivel at the cable to reduce tangling. Cordless models avoid it entirely but are limited by battery run time against your pool's size.
The thing that decides whether a robot lasts is whether brushes, tracks, the power supply and the motor unit can be bought and serviced here. Ask before you buy, especially for a brand sold only online.
