NZ Swimming Pools is a trading name of Kauri Ridge Holdings Limited, NZBN 9429050000017. Last updated 16 September 2026.
1. Using this site
NZ Swimming Pools publishes general information about the cost of swimming pools in New Zealand and about the law that applies to pool barriers. It is general information, not legal or building advice, and it is not a substitute for advice about your own property from your council, a licensed building practitioner or a lawyer.
We take care that every figure and rule is quoted accurately from a named source on a recorded date, and we re-check them. We cannot guarantee that a source has not changed since, that a council has not amended its fees, or that a rule applies to your particular pool. Council fees change on 1 July each year.
2. The cost calculator
The calculator adds up published cost bands from third-party sources and shows the source of every line. It is not a quote and creates no obligation on anyone to build a pool at that price. Only a builder who has inspected your site can quote.
3. The fence checker
The fence checker is a self-check against requirements we have sourced. A result of “likely to pass” is not a certificate, an inspection or a legal opinion, and it does not mean your barrier complies with the Building Act 2004 or the Building Code. Only a territorial authority or an independently qualified pool inspector can determine compliance (Building Act s 162D).
Some requirements are deliberately not in the checker because we could not source them well enough to publish. They are listed on our editorial policy page. A barrier can therefore pass this check and still fail an inspection.
Responsibility for restricting access to a pool sits with the people named in s 162C(4) of the Building Act — the pool owner, the pool operator, the landowner, the occupier and in some cases a purchaser or lessee — and nothing on this site transfers any part of it to us.
4. Referral terms
- We introduce you to one pool builder in your region, and only if you give express consent by ticking the separate box on the referral form.
- Any contract for pool work is between you and the builder. We are not a party to it, we do not hold your money, and we do not supervise, guarantee or warrant the builder's work.
- If you proceed with a builder we introduced, the builder pays us a referral fee under a written agreement with them. You pay us nothing and your price is not increased by it.
- We do not describe builders as vetted, approved, accredited or recommended. Before signing a referral agreement we check the public record — NZBN, the licensed building practitioner register, insurance and any claimed membership — and that is the extent of it.
- If there is no partner builder in your region, we hold your request for 90 days and ask you again before passing it to anyone. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
5. Sale terms for pool-care products
Nothing is currently for sale on this site. The section below will apply once a supplier is contracted and products are listed, and will be updated with that supplier's dispatch times and returns terms before anything can be bought.
- Prices are in New Zealand dollars. NZ Swimming Pools is not registered for GST at launch, so no GST is charged and prices are final prices.
- Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 apply to everything we sell: goods must be of acceptable quality, fit for purpose and match their description. Where they are not, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund depending on the seriousness of the fault. Nothing in these terms limits those rights, or your rights under the Fair Trading Act 1986.
- Change of mind:we intend to accept returns within 14 days on unopened, non-chemical items, with return postage paid by you. This will be confirmed against the supplier's own terms before the shop opens.
- Dangerous goods: we do not sell chlorine, pool acid or other dangerous goods online. They cannot be sent as ordinary courier freight.
- Delivery:New Zealand addresses only. Dispatch times will be the supplier's stated times, published on the product page.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
6. Third-party links
We link to legislation, councils, registers and other companies' published pages so you can check what we say. Linking to a business is not an endorsement of it, and we have no affiliate or commission arrangement with any business linked from this site. If that ever changes, the link will say so in the same paragraph.
7. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, and other than the rights the Consumer Guarantees Act and Fair Trading Act give you, NZ Swimming Poolsis not liable for loss arising from reliance on general information published on this site, from a third party's published figures being out of date, or from the acts or omissions of a builder or supplier. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us — which for the tools and the referral is nothing.
8. Changes and contact
We update these terms as the site changes, and the date at the top shows when. Questions go to our contact page.
New Zealand law applies and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.
