Privacy | NZ Swimming Pools

The short version

We collect what you type into a form. Your details reach a pool builder only if you tick a separate box that starts unticked, and then only one builder. We never sell your details, never send them to several builders, and never pass them on without that tick.

What we collect

Forms: your name, email, phone if you give it, region and suburb, and what you tell us about your pool or your section.
The tools: the calculator and the fence checker run in your browser. Your answers only reach us if you ask us to email you the result.
Analytics: anonymous usage statistics through PostHog — pages viewed, whether a tool was completed, which result type it gave. We do not use this to build a profile of you.
Technical: a session identifier and the usual server request data, used to stop spam and abuse.

What we do with it

Reply to you.
Email you the estimate or fence check you asked for.
If, and only if, you tick the sharing consent: introduce you to one partner pool builder in your region.
Keep a record so we can answer if you come back to us.

The sharing consent, word for word

The box that is unticked by default

“Share my details with one NZ Swimming Pools partner builder in my region. They'll contact me about a quote. NZ Swimming Pools may be paid a referral fee by the builder if I go ahead; I pay nothing extra.”

On /find-a-pool-builder, separate from the consent to be emailed.

If you leave it unticked, your details stay with us. If you tick it and we have no partner builder in your region, we still do not pass them on: we hold the request for 90 days and ask you again first. You can tell us to delete it sooner by replying to any email from us.

Who else sees it

One pool builder, with your consent, as above. We require them by written agreement to use your details only for your enquiry.
Our service providers. Notion (records), Resend (email), Vercel (hosting), PostHog (analytics) and Stripe (payments, once the shop opens). Several of these store data overseas, including in the United States. Where we disclose personal information to an overseas provider we do so in reliance on information privacy principle 12 and take reasonable steps to ensure comparable safeguards.
Nobody else. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not run a marketing list.

How long we keep it

A referral request with no partner builder in the region: 90 days, then deleted unless you say otherwise.
Enquiries and referrals we have acted on: as long as needed to deal with them, and for our tax and legal records.
Analytics: aggregated and not linked to you.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask for the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email hello@nz-swimming-pools.co.nz and we will reply. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Cookies

We use a session identifier and PostHog's analytics cookies. We do not run advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or third-party ad networks on this site.

Children

This site is written for adults planning or owning a pool, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
